Hall 12 – booth A25

One of the few companies claiming to have developed advanced high technology 100 percent inspection systems will be demonstrating its CHECK rewinder system on challenging applications on the Ashe Converting Equipment booth.

The company has invested heavily in skills to develop the algorithms that make the difference between 100 percent defect identification or not with accurate and repeatable results, as opposed to inspection that is so ‘blind’ or insensitive as to make such systems unsuited to a production environment, says the company.

“Many companies use linescan cameras as we do but it is the configuration to meet the precise needs of an application that makes the difference,” says general manager Damian Harvey.

The CHECKrewinder is used at the final stages of the print process providing Surfscan’s 100 percent inspection guarantee. The system can pick up intricate and complex defects at a higher rate than the human eye.

CHECkrewinder is frequently used in combination with CHECKpress which delivers 100 percent real time inspection 100 percent of the time. It can  be customised using advanced computer programming techniques and can be installed on any press – even very wide web – and can pick up the tiniest defect in a crowded print area.

SA Labels takes delivery of two Surfscan Checkpress systems

True 100% web inspection key component for a world first print solution

SA Labels, one of the UK’s largest independent manufacturers of bespoke on roll self adhesive labels, has taken delivery of two Surfscan Checkpress systems to provide 100% web inspection on the world’s first printing solution of its type that the company has developed.

The Surfscan Checkpress web inspection systems are customised to meet SA Label’s exact requirements - providing accurate and repeatable defect detection, operating at high speeds and detecting the tiniest of specks in a very busy area. With a print solution aimed at the decorative end of the market, for SA Labels this system was ideal.

Tony Coulthard, Production Manager at SA Labels comments, “We were looking for a piece of equipment that was befitting of a world class print solution, that would facilitate our continuous drive to reducing wastage and provide us with 100% web inspection. We have been impressed with the Surfscan system from the demo’s we have seen and are very much looking forward to the new system coming on-line.”

Damian Harvey, General Manager for Surfscan, adds “We are delighted that SA Labels chose to order two of our systems, and are completely convinced that by using the Checkpress on their new print solution the company will enjoy huge benefits. We are looking forward to working together over the coming months.”
